ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION

We are pleased to announce that, as of today, four EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) documents are available, each referring to a specific Copernit product family:

Below are some clarifications regarding EPD documentation:

WHAT IS AN EPD?

The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that describes the environmental impacts associated with the production of a product, based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study of its entire life cycle.

The primary purpose of an EPD is to communicate comprehensive, verifiable, accurate, and non-misleading information regarding the environmental aspects of construction products throughout their entire service life.

WHAT DOES AN EPD INCLUDE?

  • Analysis of key environmental impact parameters related to:
    - raw materials and transportation;
    - manufacturing process;
    - transport of the finished product;
    - packaging disposal;
    - end-of-life phase.
  • Description of products and manufacturing processes
  • Information on recycled content
  • Additional environmental indicators (CO₂ – GWP, Global Warming Potential)

WHY EPD?

EPDs offer several key advantages:

  • Increasingly required by the market, as sustainability and green criteria are becoming standard in technical specifications
  • Contribute to achieve bonus scoring in green building certifications
  • Clearly specify the percentage of recycled content
  • Verified and validated by an independent third party (not self-declared)
  • Enable designers and specifiers to select solutions with controlled environmental impact
